Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte will be out until January or February, says director Pep Guardiola.
The France centre-back, 25, has had surgery on his right knee after being carried off in the win over Brighton on 31.
He ruined lateral meniscus and his ribs with Brighton defender Adam Webster in a struggle.
On Laporte’s lack, Guardiola stated:”Not long. Five weeks , six months – following calendar year, January or February.”
The defender created 35 league appearances last year, together with Bernardo Silva the City outfield player and more to perform.
His injury leaves City with Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones as defenders to become player-manager of Anderlecht on the Summertime.
Stones can play at Norwich City on Saturday at the 17:30 BST kick-off and Guardiola reported the England centre-back”trained good”.
Meanwhile, Guardiola says his club’s proposal for the Premier League to have different deadlines for domestic and international transports is”a fantastic idea”.
Many clubs, including City, were miserable at that of the rest of Europe and the gap gap between the transfer window closing that is English, presuming it offered an unfair benefit to rival clubs.
At their meeting in London on Thursday, Premier League bosses discussed whether to revert back to August’s end, instead of shutting the window at the Thursday prior to the onset of the season, as has become the case for the past two seasons.
A compromise option is set forward by city, together with the deadline staying as it’s for transports within England, but making clubs totally free to sign players from elsewhere in Europe for the remainder of August.
Guardiola said:”It is a good idea.
“I want to finish the window that the day until we begin the season. Each of the managers would want to begin with the players we are going to work with. Three weeks However, the other clubs have. Perhaps that’s a solution.”
